I found a a couple grams of Salvia divinorum in my Christmas stocking last week. It came with the two giant Trichocereus cuttings I ordered for my annual new Years's Chimora ceremony.

Of course there is way too much information on the internet, but perhaps some of you kind heads could share your personal experiences with this ethnobotanical?

About half the people who try it seem to have little/no effect. The other half (and I'm in this group) had a total mindfucking beautiful profound consciousness-raising experience.

All I can really give as far as advice/preparation is be in a comfortable/homey setting, with a friend to babysit as you will likely completely leave the universe, and the experience can be a bit frightening/disorienting.

Good luck, safe travels.

Try to keep external stimuli to a minimum with the salvia. You'd be surprised how you can be in the midst of time travel and meeting up with interdimensional beings and then suddenly snap out of it at the mere sound of someone talking in the same room.

Also, definitely have a sitter because people have a tendency of getting up and walking around while completely dissociated from their surroundings, which can be dangerous. Plus when smoked it's always snuck up on me very abruptly so make sure your sitter takes the (hot) pipe from you after you've had enough.

Finally, it's best to smoke in a water pipe with a direct flame on the material while you're inhaling. This is the best method if you plan on "breaking through" as opposed to just getting a body buzz with light hallucinations.

All here give good advice. The most important is to have a clear headed partner with you. Here's how I was able to achieve a sustained 30 mins or so in outer space: Start off with a huge hit, then choke down one more before your hands can no longer hold anything. (Have two separate bowls ready for this.) Have your partner pack another one while you're out. Then when you return to your body enough to hold a pipe, signal your partner and have them hand you the bowl and light it for you. This boost will send you back out there in a most wonderful and uninterrupted manner. I find keeping my eyes closed for the entire experience is the best way to travel. Agreed to keep the outside stimulus to a minimum. Turn off phones, etc. I DO find some background music pleasant (not too loud) and the best I've found so far is the Garcia/Wales "Side Trips" CD. Its freeform music is perfect for the experience.

Good luck grasshappa

Edit: Oh and it's probably best to keep this separate from the Trichocereus.

its good stuff, when used wisely. Its most commonly used as a sleep medicine or anti-nervousness medicine. (only small doses in the medicine though 0,003% etc)

when smoked, it takes a while before it to kick in, so dont take another toke! let it kick in. Its very good if you like short hallucinations. lasts about 15 minutes

listen to music, is nice to see what salvia does to your perception of time, write down at what track you started.
